A Worcester – Massachusetts man already in state prison received a three-year sentence Wednesday for threatening to kill then – President Barack Obama in 2015 and 2016, US federal prosecutors said.
Alex Hernandez, 32, pleaded guilty in May to one count of threatening to kill and inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, the US Attorney’s office said in a statement.
He will serve the sentence concurrently with the five-to-eight year sentence he is currently serving at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Facility for a 2011 conviction on drug and gun charges. He will also face three years of supervised release. US Federal agents became aware in March 2015 that Hernandez allegedly wanted to kill Obama. He had expressed a desire to acquire false travel documents that would allow him to flee the country after the attack, the statement said.
