    Idris Elba Gets Real With Esquire As He Covers Its August 2017 Issue

    English actor Idris Elba covers the latest of Esquire August 2017 fall editorial. Captured by Victor Demarchelier the 44-year-old black actor checked into a hotel dressed in outifits from top designer brands like Burberry and Louis Vuitton. In an interview with the magazine, Idris Elba reflects on The Wire. He shares, “Where I grew up, gangsters had to be smart.That whole flashy thing—no, mate. It was suits and smiles. I said, ‘That’s how I’m going to make Stringer.’”  Discussing his father’s death, Elba explains, “I got to a place where I wasn’t even living anymore. I was becoming a robot with my work.” He adds, “I have no fear of jumping out of burning cars or out of buildings on set, but in reality, I couldn’t run one hundred meters.
