Google Creates Epic Interactive Doodle To Celebrate 44th Anniversary Of Hip Hop Music

Ever since Google began its special Doodle (temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepage) we’ve seen every creative moment intended to celebrate holidays, events, achievements and people. However, in what is possible one of Google’s coolest ever, the doodle commemorates the 44th anniversary of the party where DJ Kool Herc was credited with creating hip hop in 1973.It starts with an introduction, which gives way to a turntable tutorial and then ultimately allows you to DJ your own mix of music from famous songs available on the search engine giant’s homepage. The doodle was designed by Cey Adams, the legendary graffiti artist and founding creative director of Def Jam Recordings.“The project is rooted in honoring the past,” said Adams in an interview published by Google Friday. The doodle includes a storytelling element narrated by Fab 5 Freddy, who co-hosted the popular hip-hop show Yo! MTV Raps. “For those who have have grown up with this, they’re gonna be amazed to see such a huge part of their lives acknowledged,” he said during a Google interview. Users can explore samples, then incorporate them into a mix using a cross-fader. Once complete, they can choose to share their sample.Photo Credit: Getty
