UFC champion Conor McGregor and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather faced off for the first time ahead of the mega fight next month, with both trading words. The pair appeared in front of thousands of fans at a news conference in Los Angeles. McGregor was dressed in a custom suit with the curse word ‘F**K YOU’ written all over it in stripes, meant to provoke Mayweather. He then went further to call him broke for only choosing to wear just a stars and stripes tracksuit. ‘He’s in a f***ing tracksuit, he can’t even afford a suit anymore’, McGregor said, before Mayweather pulled out a cheque for USD$100 million. 
An energized McGregor danced around the stony-faced Mayweather, as the former four-weight boxing world champion initially sat perched on a stool. ‘On August 26, this man will be unconscious, he’s too small, he’s too frail,’ McGregor taunted. ‘I will come out and paint many pictures. I can fight in my styles. I can dazzle him. ‘He will be unconscious inside four rounds.
He’s not experienced this. I don’t fear him. This is a limited set of rules that makes this half a fight.’ ‘I will come out and paint many pictures. I can fight in my styles. I can dazzle him. At the end of the press conference the fighters walked to the middle of the stage to let off some steam and trade barbs, as UFC president Dana White separated them.
As their respective entourages closed in on the pair, Mayweather was forced to push his father Floyd Mayweather Sr. away from the confrontation. The duo is on a four-leg promotional tour, which ends at Wembley Arena, London, on Friday. Following that, they’ll next come face-to-face at T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas for their weigh-in and highly anticipated fight in late August.
