Popular American Rapper, Prodigy born Albert Johnson, was one half of the influential hip-hop duo Mobb Deep and has been confirmed dead as of yesterday. According Kathy Iandoli, a co-author on one of his books he was 42.
According to sources, the cause of death has not been released, but the rapper had been hospitalized for complications caused by sickle cell anemia after a Mobb Deep performance at Las Vegas.
Johnson was mourned by many fans and on social media by tons of fellow artists in the rap industry, including rapper Nas, who was the first to post about Johnson’s death.
