Popular TV star Kim Kardashian is facing some serious backlash on social media after sharing a picture of her son Saint West in the backseat of a car. The Internet went wild after some fans pointed out that California law requires children to sit in rear-facing car seats until they are at least two years old. The 18 months old was captured staring into the camera dressed in a yellow and black shirt paired with miniature Vans sneakers.‘A rear-facing child safety seat does a better job of supporting the head, neck and spine of infants and toddlers in a crash, because it distributes the force of the collision over the entire body,’ pediatric emergency physician Dennis Durbin told Parenting.com. And in California, along with New Jersey, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania, parents are required by law to use rear-facing car seats for children under the age of two.
According to the regulations posted on the official California Highway Patrol website, however, an exception is made if ‘the child weighs 40 or more pounds OR is 40 or more inches tall.’ In that case, the CHP states, ‘the child shall be secured in a manner that complies with the height and weight limits specified by the manufacturer of the car seat. ‘Saint has, in fact, hit both those markers.’ According to sources close to the toddler’s mother told. Following the controversy, we believe Kim is definitely going to be extra careful next time.
