International fast-fashion footwear and accessories retail company Charles & Keith has introduced its fall winter 2017 collection upon new arrival and it takes inspiration from the ideas, aesthetics and values of pop-culture and postmodern films. Photographed and filmed by Yelena Yemchuk and modeled by Lina Hoss, Lou Schoof and Madison Stubbinton, the season in a snapshot is a pastiche of highly stylised visuals with vivid contrasts that is iconic to pop culture and post modernism, with a keen fondness for the 50s.
Unfolding like the chapters of a story-within-a-story in a theatre setting, the narrative follows a postmodernist ideology, delving into the themes of onscreen clichés, superficial perfection and false realism. The collection takes on a modern retro aesthetic, featuring a series of classic shapes rendered in contemporary scales. Standout styles include slip on mules, ankle boots, chunky loafers and chained oxfords. Bags and accessories take on a sculptural and form-focused direction, while material play and colour updates lend newness.
